Pete Farnan

Peter is a founding member, songwriter and guitarist for iconic Australian rock band Boom Crash Opera and seminal post punk outfit Serious Young Insects.


His most recent project, Pesky Bones, features songs written, performed and produced by him with lead vocals from the likes of Paul Kelly, Ali Barter, Tim Rogers and Rebecca Barnard.


His work as composer, sound designer and musical director with theatre companies such as Malthouse and MTC has earned him Helpmann and Green Room Award nominations.

 

His ongoing collaboration with Michael Kantor and his cohort has produced work such as Woyzeck and Sleeping Beauty and the feature film, The Boy Castaways where Peter worked with Megan Washington, Paul Capsis and Tim Rogers. 

 

He has co-written and produced a number of successful pop and rock records for artists including The Sharp, Rachael Kane, d rogers, Rya Park and Crying In Public Places. He was musical director for the Belvoir Company B production of The Sapphires which toured the UK and South Korea.


He has a Masters in Sound Design by research from Melbourne University. Peter teaches songwriting and sound design at Melbourne Uni, Box Hill Institute and Collarts.
