Ruby Gill


Ruby Gill is a multidisciplinary musician, writer and birdwatcher raised in the forests of South Africa.  Full of profound honesty and earworms reminiscent of Big Thief and Fiona Apple, her music speaks for itself, with lyrics almost always appearing in quotation marks. In 2018, the Naarm-based songwriter’s debut ‘Your Mum’ garnered millions of streams, rave acclaim and a full add from triple j. Zan Rowe said “excuse me while I scrape myself off the floor.”  

Ruby’s recent single ‘you should do this for a living’ features Angie McMchahon and Maple Glider and earned her Feature Artist on triple j unearthed, playlisting from Spotify, Apple and Amazon and airplay from KCRW, triple j, Double J and every metro station in Australia.

Ruby is a VIC favourite at festivals such as Happy Wanderer, Loch Hart and Port Fairy Folk Festival, where she won Emerging Artist of the Year 2020 and has supported the likes of Lime Cordiale, Didirri and The Teskey Brothers.
