Rock Academy Melbourne
Monday – Saturday, September 27-October 2: NOW ON SALE
Spots for July flew out the door, so don’t miss out on the September program. If demand is high enough we may add a second week, but in this Covid-world we’ll just take it easy for the moment.
There are limited spots for the September sessions at Bakehouse Studios, drummers and bass players always seem to fill first, so don’t lag, get registered!
On the first day, we kick it off with a spotlight session, where everyone gets to play, meet each other, and mingle.
The mentors will construct the bands and then you’ll head off to a rehearsal room with your bandmates and start working up a cover song, get creative, feel free to bend the genres and the rules.
On Tuesday morning we kick off with a Songwriting workshop led by our amazing mentors, getting you started on your way to writing your original song. After the workshop, you’ll join a different band and with your new bandmates head to your rehearsal room to co-write your first hit song.
On Wednesday morning we have some instrument workshops with specialist pro players such as Marcel Youmanni for Guitarists and Paul Cartright for Bassists, then it’s back to rehearsals of originals and covers.
On Friday afternoon you’ll be nominated a time to come into Bakehouse Studios with your bandmates to perform your original song and cover song in front of the cameras and be recorded (audio and video) from the Scrap Museum. Times will be staggered for each band (using a shared backline)
On Saturday afternoon you’ll be on stage at Hotel Westwood, Footscray (to be confirmed) in front of an adoring audience.
The recorded performances will be mixed and polished and then premiered as a ‘Big Show’ on YouTube and Facebook a couple of weeks later.
